Sayiwela, sayiwela

Posted by shonatiger

My Twitter friend, Conor Walsh, brought this song back to me. I first learnt it as a child in Gwanda, many years ago. It struck me as such a sad song, then.

Here we are, still.

Particularly moved by it after the latest round of xenophobic attacks. When will it all end?

For context: this is a song sung by migrant workers, who crossed iNgulukudela (the Limpopo) seeking work.
