Ndinopa kutenda

In case we forget what we came through:
  • Thank You, Lord, for food in the shops, and for money to buy it. Thank You that I don't have to go to Francistown to get cooking oil, sugar, flour, mealie meal. Thank You that I don't have to live on beans and cabbage. Thank You that You got me through all of it even when I didn't have R20 to my name, even when I had no idea where the next meal was going to come from. Thank you for surprise parcels of groceries from my uncle in Botswana, for gifts of money and help from my aunt. Thank You for directing my steps when I didn't know where to go to find bread. Thank You, too, for the lessons learned in all those hard times. Thank You for teaching me how to reach out to others, and how to receive help.
  • Thank You, Lord, for signs of recovery for Zim. Thank You for the patched roads, and new cars. Thank You for weight gain, and takeaways. Thank You for smiles on the faces of the people I meet. Thank You for drugs in the chemists for those with life-threatening illnesses. Thank You for doctors that stayed and worked. Thank You for money in the bank, and for luxuries. Thank You for perfume and new clothes.
  • Thank You, Lord, for power (ZESA) for most of the day. Thank You for a constant supply of water. Thank You for working phones (cellphones, anyway), and the ability to text South Africa and Botswana again. Thank You for good deals and discounts.
  • Thank You for all I forgot to thank You for.
Above all, Lord, thank You for bringing us through a nightmarish time in good health and good spirits. May we never forget.
