and more...

  • My new wonderful takkies (sneakers) simply top the list. Have waited a while for them. And these, unlike my heels from a year ago, I will actually wear.
  • The realisation that I am definitely growing and changing. I move with purpose, with pain perhaps but still forward.
  • The kindness of strangers, demonstrated over and over in my life. I keep getting blessed by strangers, and somehow that moves me more than when it’s done by those close to me.
  • Serendipity (don’t you just love that word?): odd twists and turns, and meeting new people in the oddest places. I went to get some papers certified; if you know Botswana, you’ll know that’s not as easy as it sounds. If you know it well, you’ll know you can never ask for directions. So I ended up in a big glass building, hesitant, faltering… and my brave little sister simply marched up to the door we had been told not to use, pushed it open, moved the table that someone was using to block it, sneaked into a corridor… at the end of it all, we found a kind Zambian man, who was very sympathetic, and even asked me to come whenever I need help (- I will!!). AND we turned out to be somewhere in the Attorney-General’s offices, where these things are done by appointment. Ha!
  • The power of new knowledge, which gives me even better power to choose. (Yes, perhaps I am intoxicated with power- again, a stereotype confirmed.). A death can also be a birth.
