The way of love is the higher way. Anyone can be angry, and hold a grudge. Anyone can curse and rant; really, it is way too easy to express your anger. But how many can hold up those who sin against them, bringing them to God in prayer? How many of us can ask God to bring down blessings upon those who make our lives miserable? I am not changed positively by my self-righteousness; in fact, if anything, it creates more bricks for that wall that I build between God and myself. I become more like Christ when I not only forgive those who injure me, but bless them. That is part of the highest kind of love, isn’t it? What shows my difference from the world of darkness, but how well I can love when I am hurt? Surely I have wounded others too; why can’t I extend love and forgiveness to those who wound me?
